GED Social Studies

The new GED Social Studies test is 70 minutes long with no break. It is designed to test your ability to read, comprehend, and interpret social studies passages. The questions will also measure your problem solving abilities in the context of social studies. Topics covered are Civics & Government (50%), U.S. History (20%), Economics (15%), and Geography (15%). The majority of the GED Social Studies questions include a passage of text or a graphic. Sometimes the information in the passage can be used to answer the question, but knowledge of basic social studies concepts is needed as well.
